INTROSPECTIVE
Location: Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury, UK
The Introspective project’s main objective is to restore the Water Tower into its completed state. Just like the sacredness of water and bathing has undergone controversies throughout the history of Christianity only to come back to its original state, so does the function of the Water Tower.
Through grafting, two things will be attempted: the first one is to educate the visitor of the history and function of the Water Tower, the second is to enhance the visitors experience. This area of the Canterbury Cathedral is a favourite among visitors for its calmness and this shall be respected and enhanced through the graft. The resulting experience will hopefully be one of stillness. From the immersion in water to the immersion in space, architecture, history and thought.
